This was such a hit and so easy. We served it before our holiday dinner this year and I’ve made it twice since. Also, from Bon Appetit. It was so pretty and festive!
1/4 white wine vinegar
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon finely grated lime peel
1 teaspoon finely grated orange peel
1/2 cup of olive oil
1 large head of escarole cut
1 head of butter lettuce cut
1 Granny Smith apple thinly sliced
1 cup fresh pomegranate seeds (about half a pomegranate)
2/3 cup hazelnuts, toasted and chopped

We made a super salad for dinner on Monday. I had to share because, generally, I hate greens. We’ve been really busy lately and its been more difficult to cook the elaborate meals we have in the past. But, I swear, I’ve been craving this salad ever since we made it!
What you’ll need:
oil and vinegar
salt and pepper
We just cut up the pieces and threw them into a beautiful bowl and dressed it with our best olive oil and vinegar. Pretty simple and I can’t wait to make it again.

Hello there, friends. We’ve returned from our Spring hiatus. It was a well needed break to plan some good meals for the coming season. And guess what?!! We’ve got our new Spring Sunday Dinner menu up right now…so check it out and RSVP….spaces are filling up!
I was so tempted by the cover of Bon Appetite this month that I bought it while walking past a magazine stand and then remembered, we have a subscription. Have you seen it? There is something just so alluring about pasta with vegetables. It’s likely the time of year…but throw on some bacon and you really can’t loose.

Le Gigot, one of our favorite restaurants, serves the best crab cakes in NYC. It’s nearly impossible to replicate their recipe (they don’t use breadcrumbs and I suspect a lot of butter goes into the recipe to bind it together) but we’ve certainly tried. James has made this version of crab cakes since for as long as I can remember (there are breadcrumbs, however). They are really easy and very enjoyable. We pair them with a mustard sauce.

Soooo…I was very recently diagnosed with GERD. I won’t go into the ugly details but I’ve got vocal cords that look something like the Normandy beaches (too soon?). This is not so fun when you are wanna-be singer. I’ve got to cut out all the things that make life worth living (and keep this blog alive) like coffee, chocolate, citrus, raw veggies (specifically onions, garlic, etc.) dairy, any kind of pepper, fried foods, alcohol and stress. Basically, I have to eat baby food. Additionally, I have to stay away from “character voices” – which basically means my own brand of comedy is dead.

We got some great news a few weeks ago. Our good friends are moving back to New York! They have been living in Miami and we are so excited that they will be so close again. Dan and Brooke are very special friends and they deserved a very special meal.
